How to Fix Sound Problems in Windows 10?

Windows update can fix problems you were facing with the older version at the same time it can become a cause of some new technical problems. One of the common technical issues that users face after a Windows update is sound issues. To learn how to resolve sound problems in Windows 10, below are some methods that you need to follow. 

1) Run the Troubleshooter

The audio troubleshooter of Windows 10 can detect audio issues and recommend solutions for the same. This is the most time-saving technique to fix audio issues. Below are the steps that you need to follow to fix sound problems by running the audio troubleshooter. 

Step 1: Go to the search box on your toolbar and type troubleshoot. Now, you will see troubleshoot settings in search results. Click on that option. 

Step 2: After that, a window will open up before you. There, you need to search for the option of "Playing Audio" under the "Get Up and Running "section. After that, click on "Run the Troubleshooter". 

Step 3: Another troubleshooter icon will appear on your taskbar. Select this option to launch a new window. There, you will see the option of troubleshooting different audio devices such as headphones, in-built speakers, and connected speakers. Once you are done choosing the device that you want to troubleshoot, select Next

Step 4: Run the troubleshooter and then wait for the results The troubleshooter will pinpoint the problems that you need to resolve. You may also get advice to improve the sound quality. You can also try the suggestions provided by the troubleshooter and check if this resolves your problem. 

2) Update Sound Card Drivers

Sound problems can also occur because of poor communication between the sound card and Windows 10. This may even lead to sound failure. Luckily, you can make your sound driver work with Windows 10. However, you are required to wait for the right update to get this done.

Follow the steps given below to fix sound problems in Windows 10 by updating the sound card driver. 

Step 1: Go to the Start menu and then start looking for "Device Manager". Click on Device Manager from results

Step 2: After that, you will see a list of icon options in the Device Manager window. Select the option of Sound, video, and game controllers. You will see your sound card by selecting this option. 

Step 3: Doubleclick on the sound card and open it. Now, click on the Driver tab and select the "Update Driver" option. Now, Windows Search will start searching for driver updates and download them. 

Step 4: After the update is finished, restart your PC and check if the issue is fixed or not. 

3) Restart Audio Services

If your default audio device is not working at all or there are some setting issues, then below are the steps that you can follow to fix your problem. 

Step 1: Type Services in the search box and then open the Services app

Step 2: Now, you will see a long list of services on Windows 10. After that scroll to find Windows audio and then click on Restart.

Step 3: After that, go to Services one more time and follow the same process for Remote Procedure Call and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder. This will help you troubleshoot sound problems in Windows 10.
