How to Multiply Cells and Numbers in Microsoft Excel?

One of the most important functions of Excl is multiplying values. There are various methods to do this. You can apply the method that suits you the best. Here, we are available with multiple methods to perform multiplication.

How can I Multiply Two Numbers in Excel?

The best way to do this is to multiply numbers in a single cell by using one formula. If you type 2*6 in a call, then you must press the enter key. After that, you will see the result displayed as 12. If you want, you can also multiply two different cells together.

  • In a cell, you are required to type "="
  • Select the cell which has the first number you wish to multiply.
  • Type "*"
  • Choose the second cell that you wish to multiply.
  • After that, press the Enter key.
  • Use the PRODUCT formula to multiply cells

You don't just have to multiply two cells, you can multiply 255 values at the same time by using this method. You can also multiply individual cells using this formula. You can also separate the numbers with a comma and multiply cells with a colon.

An example of PRODUCT method would be PRODUCT(A1,A3:A5,B1,10). Excel is going to apply this formula and then multiply (A1xA3xA4xA5xB1X10). A3:A5 is going to indicate that it should multiply A3, A4, and A5. please keep in mind that the order of these cells is irrelevant in multiplication.

How to Multiply a Column of Values by a Constant?

If there are several numbers in the series that you want to multiply with the same value, then you must do that using an absolute reference in the cell that has the constant.

Step 1: Set up the columns that you wish to multiply and then insert the constant in another cell.

Step 2: type = in another cell and then select the first cell that you wish to multiply.

Step 3: Enter the name of the cell that has the constant. You must add $ before the number and letter. This sign is going to change it to an absolute reference. This is to going to change if you copy and paste it into your spreadsheet.

Step 4: Now, press the enter key.

Step 5: After that, you can copy and paste it to additional cells for performing multiplication on other numbers. The best way to do this is to drag the cell to the bottom-right corner and then copy it.
