How to Open MSConfig in Windows 11?

MSConfig is a great troubleshooting facility that has been a part of Windows for a very long time. You can easily use this tool to reconfigure your OS startup by disabling services and changing boot settings. If you do so, you can stop conflicting services or programs starting with Windows.

1) Open MSConfig with Run 

Run is an inbuilt accessory on which you can launch various Windows tools. You can launch MSConfig with an accessory by entering the right command.

Step 1: First of all, launch the Windows menu by pressing the Windows and X keys simultaneously. 

Step 2: Choose Run on the menu to open the window. 

Step 3: Enter MSConfig in the tet area.

2) Use Windows Search Tool to Open MSConfig

Step 1: Go to the magnifying glass icon on your taskbar to open the search box. 

Step 2: Enter your keyword MSConfig in the search area to find System Configuration.

3) Launch MSConfig with Windows Terminal 

This is an application that has both PowerShell and Command Prompt. You can launch MS Config using the command-line tool just like with Run. If you like using command-line utilities, then you can open MSConfig from Windows Terminal by following the simple step mentioned below. 

Step 1: Go to the Start menu and then right-click on it. After that, choose Windows Terminal from the menu. 

Step 2: In case a UAC prompt shows up, then select Yes from there. 

Step 3: Select the button "Open a new tab". After that, choose the Command Prompt or power shell utility. 

Step 4: After that, type MSConfig in the Command Prompt or PowerShell tab. Then, press the Enter key. 

4) Launch MSConfig Using File Explorer

Explorer is an inbuilt file manager utility in Windows that you can use to launch tools and software. You can launch MSConfig by going to the System32 folder. You can also open MSConfig by typing text in the Explorer's path box.

Follow the steps mentioned below to open MSConfig using File Explorer. 

Step 1: Open up Task Manager by right-clicking on the Start menu. After that, select the Win X menu. 

Step 2: After that, select the File menu in the Task Manager. 

Step 3: Then, choose the Run new task option. 

Step 4: Enter MSConfig in the Open box there. 

Step 5: After that, you can select Create this task with administrative privileges. 

Step 6: Choose the OK option to open MSConfig. 

5) Use Cortana to Open MSConfig

Cortana is Windows 11's digital assistant using which you can open system tools and third-party software. This app is amazing as it accepts voice commands as well as texts to open software and tools.

Below are the steps that you need to follow to open MSConfig using Cortana. 

Step 1: First of all, select the Cortana circle on your taskbar. 

Step 2: After that, open MSConfig within the box of Ask Cortana. 

Step 3: Then, press the Enter key to open System Configuration. 

Step 4: If your PC's microphone is turned on, then you must give a voice command by hitting "Speak to Cortana" button.  After that, "open MSConfig" to ask Cortana to open System Configuration. 

6) Set up Your MSConfig Desktop or Start Menu Shortcut

Set up a Start menu, taskbar, or desktop for MSConfig. This way, you will be able to create a more direct way to open System Configuration. After creating a desktop shortcut for MS Config, you can easily move it to the taskbar.

Below are the simple steps that you need to follow for setting up an MSConfig desktop shortcut. 

Step 1: Go to the area of your desktop wallpaper and then right-click on it. After that, click on New and then select Shortcut from the context menu. 

Step 2: Enter Msconfig inside the location box. 

Step 3: Click on Next. 

Step 4: Enter MSConfig in the text box of the shortcut title. 

Step 5: Select Finish for adding a new MSConfig shortcut. 

After that, you can click on the MSConfig desktop shortcut whenever you wish to open System Configuration. If you want the shortcut to be on the taskbar, just right-click on it and select Show more options and then select Pn to the taskbar.
